Pronunciation · the pitch phrases
Before speaking, tune your ear
«So» with a pause after it. «going to» fast.
«First» marks order: raise your voice a little.
2028 = «twenty twenty-eight».
«By» + year = before that year ends.
Stress on «not» and on «easy».
Strong ending: stress on «happen».

Last year, a tenth grader from Cali won a language scholarship with a sixty-second pitch. The judges later explained why. She did not list ten plans; she chose one preference and defended it: «I would rather work with animals than with computers». Then she gave one clear plan with evidence: «I am going to study veterinary medicine because I have volunteered at a shelter for two years». Finally, she offered three steps in order and a strong closing line: «By 2030, I am going to open the first free clinic for street dogs in my neighbourhood». Structure, not vocabulary, won the prize.
