How do you say «you have built» in English? Today you learn it. Hint: it is not you built.
The key idea
What happened vs. what you have achieved
The Past Simple says when something happened: yesterday, in 2014, last year. The Present Perfect says something is already done: an achievement that counts up to today, without saying when.
“I won a match yesterday. — I have won 50 matches!”
Past Simple · when
I built a castle yesterday.
Date, moment. Finished.
Present Perfect · logro
I have built 100 castles.
Up to today. It is your record.
The formula
have / has + participio (columna 3)
Subject

Participle
Example
I / You / We / They

built
I've built a castle.
Contraction

The participle is the third column: built, bought, won, written. Regular verbs: same as the past, played, created.
Have or has?
It depends on the subject
HAVE
I · you · we · they
I have played. You have played. We have played. They have played.
HAS
he · she · it
He has played. She has played. It has played.
Just like do / does: the third person singular takes the s.

Time words are your GPS
Before you choose a tense, find the time word. Yesterday, in 2014, last week → Past Simple. Already, just, ever, this year, so far → Present Perfect. The grammar follows the time word, not the other way round.
Level up · reading · A Speedrunner's Record
Camila is fifteen and she has played Minecraft since she was nine. This year she has become one of the fastest speedrunners in Colombia. She has finished the game in under twenty minutes more than fifty times, and she has broken the national record twice. Her family has supported her from the start: her dad has built her a small studio and her brother has edited all her videos. «I have learned more English from streamers than from any book», she says. Camila has not won an international event yet, but she has already qualified for one in Brazil.
