Verbs travel with partners

Some verbs always bring a friend: make the bed, do homework, take a shower, have lunch. These partners are called collocations. If you learn the pair, you never have to think about which verb to use.
Level up · reading · Two Very Different Mornings

Valentina and her twin brother Samuel share a room, but their mornings are completely different. Valentina wakes up at five, makes her bed immediately and does twenty minutes of exercise while she listens to K-pop. Then she takes a shower, gets dressed and prepares her own breakfast: fruit, yoghurt and cereal. Samuel, however, stays in bed until the last minute. He does not make his bed, he takes a very quick shower and he often forgets to brush his teeth. Their mother says: «You are twins, but you live on different planets!»
