Admissions experts recommend a weighted matrix: list five criteria — programme quality, cost, location, scholarship options and alignment with your cognitive profile — and score each option from one to five. The matrix does not make the decision for you; it exposes the reasoning behind your instinct. A student may discover that her favourite university wins on prestige but loses on alignment and cost, whereas a less famous option scores higher on the criteria that will actually shape her daily life.
